Apple Scones
1 medium cooking apple
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 pint milk
2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 teaspoon
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon powedered sugar
Peel, core and finely chop apple. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. rub in butter, then add sugar and chopped apple. Mix to a soft, but sticky, dough with milk. Roll out on a foured table to about 1/4 inch thick and 8" round and mark into 8 wedges.
Place on a greased baking sheet, brush top with glazing (powdered sugar mixed with a little milk). Bake at 400° for 20-25 minutes. Serve warm with butter.
